2017 BMW X3 M

New generation vehicles of the BMW X3 crossover have been spotted in the streets, testing for road capabilities. That means we are close to its unveiling, although first plan was to introduce SUV in 2017. New vehicle is similar to second-generation crossover.

What is going to be new, is performance-tuned 2017 BMW X3 M model, which should be launched ahead of regular X3. There is no official information about this car, but since spy photos prove its existence, we are sure that M package for SUV will bring many news and modifications.

2017 BMW X3 M performance

Since the 2017 BMW X3 M is going to be tuned for high performance. That means more powertrain options for it, comparing to regular crossover, which arrives afterwards. One of the possibilities could be borrowed from 7 series vehicles of German carmaker. It is 3.0-l 6-cylinder unit. It is going to use gasoline as its fuel. Similar engine is available as diesel motor.
It is used by X5 M50d model, and if it is going to be installed in X3 M crossover, we can expect around 370 ponies of output. Nevertheless, latest rumors are speaking of turbocharged unit which is using AWD system, and this inline powertrain can go up to 430 hp. If this drivetrain is used, then 2017 BMW X3 M is going to be one of the best performer in its segment.

2017 BMW X3 M styling

We know that new crossover X3 is being tested under the codename G01. Spy shots revealed its look, even under heavy camouflage. Second-generation model will have longer wheelbase, according to what we have seen, and 2017 BMW X3 M version is going to use same styling, with only interior modification.

Comparing to latest X3 SUVs, new vehicle has longer rear doors, rear quarter windows and modified glass house. We could see also larger sunroof and big wheel air curtains. LED lightning should be standard. Release date is unknown yet, as well as price for both 2017 X3 M model and regular crossover.
