2017 Volvo XC70

As you probably know, this crossover came as a special variant of Volvo’s mid-size car called V70. This estate is present for almost 20 year, and so far we have seen three generations of it. The XC70 came as special variant, adapted to an off-road drive. 

Current model, which is in its third generation, came in 2007. It is already known that 2016 year model will come without changes, so it is highly expected that 2017 Volvo XC70 will come redesigned, after almost a decade of production. According to the latest reports, this model is expected to come completely redesigned.

2017 Volvo XC70 design

The 2017 Volvo XC70 is expected to come completely redesigned, as fourth-generation model. New model will come with plenty of significant changes. We will see a plenty of new design solutions. It is expected that new crossover will borrow the platform from new XC90, called Volvo Scalable Product Architecture. 

When it is about basic characteristics of the car, we expect that 2017 XC70 will continue in the same way. It will feature a station wagon body style, adapted to an off-road drive. This basically means a much higher ground clearance, which will provide better overall performances. When it is about styling, 2017 Volvo XC70 will be completely adapted to the company’s new design language. 

We will once again see a beautiful new front fascia, featuring new headlamps fitted with “Thor’s Hammer” daytime running LED lights and beautiful massive grille. When it is about interior, details are still unknown, but it is for sure that many design solutions will be borrowed from other new models of the company.

2017 Volvo XC70 engine

When it is about engines, it is expected that 2017 Volvo XC70 will completely feature company’s new lineup of engines. So, we will see two petrol engines, T5 and T6, with 254 and 316 horsepower, respectively. When it is about diesel engines, expect to see a D4 with 190 horses and also a twin-turbo D5, which outputs 228 horsepower. 

The 2017 XC70 is also expected to come in hybrid variant. A so-called T8 model, will be powered by 2.0 liter petrol engine and 60-kW electric motor, with total output of over 400 horsepower. All models will come with company’s new 8-speed Geartronic automatic transmission.
