2017 Porsche Cayenne

 

There are some big news from this German manufacturer. According to the latest reports, Porsche’s popular SUV Cayenne is about to come completely redesigned. This mid-size luxury crossover originally came 2002 and it is currently in its second generation, which has been refreshed recently. According to rumors, new model is expected to come in 2017. It is still unknown in which part of year it will come, so it is hard to say will it be named as 2017 or 2018 year model. For now, we will call it 2017 Porsche Cayenne.

2017 Porsche Cayenne details

The 2017 Porsche Cayenne will come with plenty of changes in all aspects. As we already said, it will come as third-generation model, so we can expect it to feature all of the latest technologies that company achieved. One of the most important changes will be new platform. 

The 2017 Cayenne will ride on Volkswagen Group MLB platform. It is the same platform that is used for  new Q7, but it will probably be slightly shortened for this occasion. This platform will also underprin new Touareg. New model will be made of extra-light materials such as HSS (High Strength Steel) and carbon fiber. This will provide significant weight savings. Compared to current model, 2017 Porsche Cayenne will be for about 220 pounds lighter. 

When it is about exterior look, we will see completely new styling, adapted to the company’s new design language. Many of visual details will be borrowed from other models of company. For example, clamshell hood and wraparound tail-lights will be borrowed from new Macan, while C-shaped fender vent and front air intakes will be similar to those found on Panamera Sport Turismo concept. The cabin will be redesigned too and it will feature new styling, similar to company’s flagship supercar Porsche’s 918 Spyder.

As you probably know, company made some significant updates recently, when it is about engines. It is expected that 2017 Porsche Cayenne will come with same engines. Base model will be powered by naturally-aspirated V6, while Turbocharged version will power S model. Cayenne Turbo is expected to come with same Turbocharged V8, while Cayene S E-Hybrid will also come with same configuration. Also, at least one diesel variant is expected.

At this point it is very hard to make some predictions about price and release date. However, there are plenty of reports that new model will somewhere during 2017.
