While there are many rumors about new crossover, it seems like German carmaker is making surprise in this segment. As we could notice on the streets, new vehicle is being tested, and leaked info said that is 2017 BMW X4 M40i. This is going to be performance boosted SUV, which could be released first in US. However, there are no confirmed information about this vehicle, but rumors are louder every day.

Visual appearance of the 2017 BMW X4 M40i is almost the same as for its relative. Both X4 and X4 M40i have M Sport packages, so wheels and bumpers are the same. Inside, there is steering wheel borrowed from 3-series M-unit. Some of the highlights of this model are 19-inch wheels, mirror caps and twin-exhaust layout. 

Also, there is a silver front bumper, with possible satin cover. In the cabin, steering wheel is multifunctional. It is covered with black leather. Shift lever, sill plates and control panel are revisited and refreshed, while M40i model also gets sport seats.

Inside the 2017 BMW X4 M40i crossover 3.0-l turbo six unit could be found. So far this is the only information we have. This drivetrain can deliver around 355 hp and 343 lb-ft of torque. Powertrain is paired with 8-speed gearbox which sends power to all four wheels. For this performance-tuned SUV, off-road capabilities are significantly weakened. 

It is because of the lowered suspension, while low-profile tires don’t help its boost either. With these engine and transmission, new crossover will sprint to 60 mph in just 5 seconds, while there is a announcement that top speed will be blocked at 155 mph.

According to leaked information, new 2017 BMW X4 M40i could arrive very soon. If our source is right, this vehicle will have a premiere in Los Angeles, at the Car show in this town, later this year. However, since there is a lot of work to be done on this model, we won’t see it at dealerships before 2016, probably closer to mid-year. Price is still unknown for performance-tuned SUV.
