The XC90 is a mid-size luxury crossover, produced by Swedish manufacturer Volvo. As you probably know, original model was one of the longest-produced models in modern car history. After 12-13 year, it is finally replaced. The second generation model is ready and it will come as 2016 year model.
Although it is still early to speculate about second year of models productions, we have some information about it. According to the latest reports, 2017 Volvo XC90 will come with one big novelty. Although it will keep the basic characteristics unchanged, it will come with one more, tuning trim level called Polestar.
2017 Volvo XC90 exterior design
As you know, completely redesigned model came just recently and it feature astonishing look. The 2017 Volvo XC90 will keep the same appearance. However, new Polestar model will come with several unique details. This trim will be characterized by more aggressive appearance and it will feature things such as especially-designed wheels and iconic Rebel Blue paint.
This model will also come with modified front end which will include new bumper with larger air openings and more aggressive overall look. Similar changes are expected at the rear end where we expect to see also modified bumper and also new exhaust tips and similar stuff.
In new Polestar variant, 2017 Volvo XC90 will feature basically the same styling, but we will see some sporty accents also. It will come with new sport seats. When it is about technology, this variant will feature the longest list of standard features. Same thing is expected when it is about safety.
2017 Volvo XC90 under the hood
Well, this is still a very fresh model, so changes under the hood are not expected. When it is about Polestar, two variants will be in offer. The 2017 Volvo XC90 Polestar will be available in D5 and T6 variants. D5 features a 2.0 liter turbodiesel engine, which outputs around 225 horsepower.
On the other side, T6 model will be powered by 2.0 liter turbo petrol engine, which delivers 316 horses. However, both engines are expected to be tuned up for this occasion. Unfortunately, T8 model won’t be available with Polestar trim.
2017 Volvo XC90 price and competition
The 2017 Volvo XC90 will keep the same price as 2016 year model, which starts at around 48.000 dollars. Main competitors are models like BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GL etc. When it is about 2017 XC90 Polestar, expect about 10.000 dollars higher price. Main rivals of this model will be BMW X5 M and Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG.
