Swedish carmaker Volvo is well known for their luxury vehicles in
all segments. Their cabins are comfortable, design is elegant and reliable
engines are under the hood. Also, safety is at top level, which is recognized
by buyers, and that is why company is very popular. Same characteristics are
for all classes in which company has its vehicles, and so it is with new
compact crossover. Built on the new platform, 2017 Volvo XC40 will be
attractive and stylish. With it, company will complete their crossover class,
adding this small SUV under bigger vehicles, XC60 and XC90.

Development of the 2017 Volvo XC40 is near the end. We can say this
because vehicle has been spotted in the streets, and it seems like almost
finished. Visually, it reminds on V40 vehicle from same manufacturer.
That is
most seeable on moldings, roof rails and side skirts. Radiator grille is
standard feature of Volvo vehicles, and aggressiveness is boosted with xenon
lamps and company’s engraved badge. Air intake is wide and fog lamps are placed
on the bumper. Overall impression is improved with glossy roof made of aluminum
and 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, designers put a lot of effort to improve safety,
comfort and infotainment. Seating layout is now different, with more space for
passengers. Driver is getting new instrument panel with digital clusters and
TFT display. Helping systems are parking assist and cruise control for base
models. Safety is improved with laser assisted braking, while blind spot
information system is boosted with cross traffic assist. There will be also
many more features available on the 2017 Volvo XC40, but these weren’t unveiled
yet.

Compact crossover is going to be powered from petrol and diesel
drivetrains. Base models of the 2017 Volvo XC40 comes packed with 1.6-l
gasoline, four-cylinder unit. Diesel models will be more interesting, with
2.0-l displacement. This turbocharged powerplant is going to be mated to a
6-speed automatic gearbox and it can produce 150 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque.
Petrol engine pumps more power, 180 ponies and 240 lb-ft of torque. Also,
different transmission box is going to be offered, as 5-speed manual comes as
optional replacement of the 6-speed auto.
