2017 Skoda Polar

Czech carmaker is making their way into new dimension, and it is crossover range. Yes, it is true! Skoda vehicles are being tested, which can be confirmed with spy shots. But, what shall we expect? According to some rumors, it is 2017 Skoda Polar, but there are also other names in the mix. This vehicle could be Superb SUV, or Snowman, and even Montania. Well, we will need to wait for a while before we can see final decision about name, but we already found some information about design and engines.

2017 Skoda Polar styling

The 2017 Skoda Polar has been seen on the streets. Since testing is on, we are sure that crossover’s development is in final stage. Under heavy camouflage we couldn’t see everything, but some details were obvious. This concept is new, and its dimensions fit to a compact SUV class. There are some similarities with Fabia, which uses MQB platform, so it is possible that 2017 Polar is going to use some same elements.

2017 Skoda Polar drivetrains

There are few options which could give power to 2017 Skoda Polar. We don’t have exact numbers and info, but some rumors say that front-wheel drive will be used as standard. Power would be sent from 3-cylinder units which will be available as petrol or diesel. These could be from 1.0-l with 95 hp and 100 lb-ft of torque.
There are also gossips that 1.4-l three-cylinder drivetrain could be diesel, with various outputs, form 75 to 105 hp. All-wheel drive is also possibility for higher end models. Some reports said that top of the range trims could get even stronger engines, which could deliver closer to 200 hp from 2.0-l TSI powerplants.

2017 Skoda Polar competition and price

This crossover is still in development phase, so official release date is not set yet. However, street testing is telling that it could happen soon, but without information from these tests, we can’t predict anything. One thing is sure, when 2017 Skoda Polar comes out, it will rival Mini Countryman and Mazda CX-3. Knowing that, price should be predictable. If Skoda wants to get into crossover market, they should offer special price, so we are hoping for $20,000 tag on it.
