2017 Cadillac XT5

Every lover of luxury cars is excited when Cadillac prepares something new. This time American car maker is planning to launch an all-new model. It will be a mid-size crossover, which will come as replacement for SRX, which is going to retire. The name of new model is still unknown. The concept was named XT5, but what name will be used for production model is still unknown. Since it will come next year, we will call it a 2017 Cadillac XT5.

2017 Cadillac XT5 design

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 will be an all-new model. Compared to its predecessor SRX, it will come significantly different, although it will belong to the same class of vehicles, a mid-size crossovers. New model has been spotted on the streets of New York few months ago. Beside completely new appearance, which is obvious, 2017 XT5 will get new platform. It is a new version of Theta platform, which will come with several significant improvements, mainly when it is about weight and engines. New model will be significantly lighter. It is about hundreds of pounds.

New platform also includes new engines. Exact units are still unknown, but it is for sure that base model will use some of the modern inline-four units of the company, while six-cylinder variant will be optional. As you probably know, GM works on new transmission, which is expected to be finished soon. According to the latest reports, 2017 Cadillac XT5 will be equipped with this new, 9-speed automatic transmission. 

When it is about visual appearance, a concept of new model has be spotted, as we already mentioned, bigger changes are not expected when it is about production model. It comes fitted to the company’s new design language, which is characterized by straight lines, sharp edges and very sporty and futuristic overall look. A concept version features a cabin with room for five passengers, but we won’t be surprise if we see in offer an optional version with three rows of seats.

2017 Cadillac XT5 release date

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 is in a final stage of development and it is expected to be presented soon at the some major auto show. It will probably hit the market somewhere in the middle of next year. Price is still unknown.
