First model of Duster crossover, made from cooperation of French
carmaker Renault and Romanian company Dacia, was released in 2010. Ever since,
its sales numbers are rising, and major success happened in 2013, when SUV took
one of the top places among best selling crossovers. However, don’t be confused
if you see same model under Renault name, since two companies are sharing its
name. Compact SUV was sold in certain markets and countries, and 2017 Dacia
Duster could make larger presence. Since model from 2013 suffered larger
facelift, new vehicle is not going to have significant changes, but rather
small refreshment.
2017 Dacia
Duster redesign
Major change on the 2017 Dacia Duster is going to be overall length.
New model gets 15 cm of wheelbase. This can lead to further changes, and one of
them is third row of seats in the cabin. Although information is not confirmed
yet, Dacia spokesmen didn’t deny it. The Dacia Duster is going to be built on
the same platform as last model.
It is Renault Duster Oroch concept. That means
crossover will use 18-inch wheels, protective mouldings on the side of the body
and rich infotainment system, including multimedia screen. Greatest refreshment
could be new instrument panel with steering wheel controls for Bluetooth and
audio system.
2017 Dacia
Duster engine
Powertrain of this crossover will be carried over from its
predecessor. Under the hood of the 2017 Dacia Duster is a 2.0-l inline-four
drivetrain. Power is sent through 4-speed auto gearbox to front wheels by
default. There are three driving modes available: 2WD, Auto and Lock. Output of
this combination is 135 hp and 195 Nm (145 lb-ft) of torque. All wheel drive is
also possibility and it will boost off-road capabilities. New Dacia Duster
should reach 60 mph in 10 seconds, while top speed is around 180 km/h (110
mph). There is no information about fuel economy, but experts think same rate
will be kept.
2017 Dacia
Duster market
New 2017 Dacia Duster will be available from 12,000 euro, and with
different driving mode and AWD it raises to €15,000. Last model as Dacia Duster
was available only in certain huge markets, such as India, Russia and South
Africa. New model is expected to reach more buyers.
