2017 Fiat 500X Abarth

Italian carmaker is growing their crossover indutry. Although Fiat is well-known about their economical cars, new wave of their development includes breakthrough into other segments. One of the most popular is SUV, where we expect 2017 Fiat 500X Abarth as a representer of Italian manufacturer. Vehicle has been confirmed, but release date is not informed yet. This vehicle will be upgraded version of the 2016 regular model of 500X. Abarth is tuned model, so big expectations are on this compact SUV. Some rumors say that this could be the first model of the completely new Abarth lineup, but info is not confirmed yet.

2017 Fiat 500X Abarth styling

The 2017 Fiat 500X Abarth, as a new model, will share platform with some Jeep models, probably Renegade. With this info, we can predict some mutual features. Outside, we expect classic Fiat styling, with elegant lines and not so aggressive appearance. Bumpers and skirts will be borrowed from some other models, while the 500X Abarth gets unique spoiler.

Rear diffuser is interesting, placed under the bumper. Dual exhaust tips are highlights of the rear end. Inside, layout is somehow more sporty than at any other Fiat vehicle. Seats and steering wheel leads this impression. Few trim options will be offered, with various equipment used. We expect upgraded infotainment and safety features for this tuned model of Fiat 500X.

2017 Fiat 500X Abarth engine

Powertrain options were not unveiled yet. Some leaked information says that 2017 Fiat 500X Abarth is going to use same unit as Alfa Romeo 4C Spider. This is not impossible, since 1.75-l turbocharged four-cylinder engine can produce around 200 hp, which is fair enough for new crossover from Italian company. This 4C powerplant is becoming more popular, since company is planning it to be under the hood of its brand-new 2018 Fiat 124 Abarth Spider. Four-wheel drive mode is still questionable for 2017 SUV, while we also have to wait to see which transmission the vehicle is using.

2017 Fiat 500X Abarth price and competition

With base model starting from $20,000, 2017 Fiat 500X Abarth will be competitive with its rivals. These are new Mercedes GLA250 and upcoming Nissan Juke Nismo RS. However, compact crossover will have higher trims which are expected to cost $25,000 and more.
