2017 Kia Sportage

The Sportage is a popular compact crossover produced by Korean manufacturer Kia. It was originally introduced in 1993 and during these more than two decades, we saw three generations of it. Current model was launched in 2010. Next-generation model is already in testing phase, in an advanced stage of development. The testing mule has been spotted on the streets already. According to the latest reports, it is expected to come this fall. However, we still don’t know will North American version will come at the same period. According to some rumors, it could come next year as 2017 Kia Sportage. No matter if it comes as all-new or as its second year of production, it will probably share the same characteristics.

2017 Kia Sportage design

The 2017 Kia Sportage will come as fourth-generation model. New model was spied during testing in Germany, at Hyundai-Kia Technical Center in Russelsheim. Although new model is still under the camouflage, we can see some new features. Under the cover, we will see a completely new design, which will be adapted to the company’s new design language. 

We presume that most of details will be borrowed from KX3 Concept, which was presented recently in China. New model will come with plenty of visual changes, especially at the both ends. The 2017 Kia Sportage will feature new wraparound LED headlights and new larger and lower-positioned “tiger-nose” grille – the look that characterizes all new models from this manufacturer. Rear end will also come with changes and it is expected to follow changes from the front. The 2017 Sportage will also feature completely new cabin, but more exact details are yet to be announced.

2017 Kia Sportage engines

Many novelties are also expected when it is about engines. The 2017 Kia Sportage will come with several gasoline and diesel engines in offer. When it is about petrol units, it is expected that the base model will be powered by 1.2 liter engine with 132 horsepower. We also expect to see current 2.0 liter engine, but with improvements both in terms of power and fuel economy. A Turbocharged version of this engine is also expected. When it is about diesels, 2017 Kia Sportage will come with already known and proven 1.7 and 2.0 liter CRDi engines, which will also come with more power and better mpg ratings. All engines are expected to be paired with 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The 2017 Kia Sportage will come somewhere next year. Starting price is expected to be somewhere around 22.000 dollars.
